Mulberry Kombucha is the darkest bottle WiskTea Recipe has ever brewed — and, unexpectedly, the gentlest on the palate.
Real mulberry leads with a ripe, plummy sweetness: deep, jammy, and almost entirely free of the sharp edge that defines the rest of the Fruit Series. Where Blackcurrant is bold and tart and Passion Fruit is vivid and tropical, Mulberry is rounded, soft, and quietly generous. It is the fruit kombucha that asks nothing of the drinker.
Black tea was chosen as the base, and it is the only bottle in the Fruit Series built this way. Its malty backbone and light tannic grip give the fruit a structure to sit against — framing the sweetness rather than cutting through it. The result has real weight on the palate: fuller and more substantial than a lighter fruit brew, closer to a good dark-fruit infusion than a soft drink.
The colour is worth noting. Mulberry pours an intense, near-opaque purple that turns garnet where light passes through it — and every bit of that comes from the fruit. No synthetic colouring, no concentrate, no shortcuts.
Tasting Notes
First Sip: Ripe, plummy sweetness from real mulberry — deep, jammy, and remarkably low in sharpness.
Mid-Palate: Real black tea brings malty depth and a light tannic frame.
Finish: Fuller-bodied than a typical fruit kombucha — smooth, rounded, and softly sweet.
Brewed small-batch in Jakarta, Indonesia by WiskTea Recipe.
The bottle for anyone who finds kombucha too sour — naturally sweet, low in sharpness, and immediately approachable from the first sip
The darkest pour in the range — an intense, near-opaque purple that comes entirely from real mulberry, with no synthetic colouring of any kind
The only Fruit Series flavour on a real black tea base — malty structure and a light tannic frame give it a fullness the lighter tea bases cannot deliver
Rounder than Blackcurrant — the same dark-fruit territory, without the tartness; a natural next bottle for anyone who found Blackcurrant a little sharp
More weight on the palate — fuller and more substantial in the mouth than a typical fruit kombucha
Clean label, zero shortcuts — no preservatives, no artificial sweeteners, no synthetic additives of any kind
Naturally fizzy — live SCOBY fermentation produces real carbonation, not added CO₂
Halal certified — suitable for Muslim consumers
Best served well-chilled. Pour into a glass over ice — the deep purple colour is at its most striking in a clear glass against light.
Before opening: Gently invert the bottle once to redistribute any settled culture. Do not shake. Open slowly before pouring.
Suggested pairings: Cheese boards and charcuterie — the rounded sweetness works beautifully against salt and aged hard cheeses; dark chocolate and chocolate desserts; roast duck, char siu, and glazed meats; berry and stone-fruit desserts — plum tarts, clafoutis, dark berry cheesecake; mocktail base — over crushed ice with sparkling water and a twist of orange.
Serving occasions: Evening sipping, dinner accompaniment, gifting, introducing someone to kombucha for the first time, festive tables.
Storage: Keep refrigerated at 4–7°C. Consume within 7 days of opening. Keeps up to 6 months chilled.
