Robust. Malty. Grounding.
Grateful is WiskTea Recipe's purist black tea expression — a single-origin kombucha that celebrates everything great black tea is capable of when given time and craft to develop.
Like its Single Origin sibling Freedom, Grateful carries one ingredient beyond the kombucha base: black tea at 0.95%. No additions, no shortcuts, no flavour layering. Just premium black tea and a live SCOBY, fermented with patience until the brew reaches its full, grounding depth.
Black tea is the boldest of all kombucha bases — its robust, malty character and warm toasty backbone carry through fermentation in full. Where Freedom is light and crisp, Grateful is full-bodied and satisfying. The fermentation process does something remarkable here: it takes the black tea's natural astringency and mellows it into something smooth and rounded, with a lingering dry finish that feels complete rather than sharp.
This is the kombucha that earns its place alongside a meal, a quiet afternoon, or any moment that calls for something grounding.

For those who prefer their drinks with substance.
- The boldest Single Origin in the range — black tea at 0.95% delivers the most full-bodied, robust profile in the entire Single Origin Series
- Fermentation at its most transformative — the brewing process takes black tea's natural astringency and turns it into something smooth, rounded, and deeply satisfying
- A natural meal companion — the malty depth and dry finish make Grateful one of the most food-friendly kombuchas in the WiskTea Recipe library
- The purist's alternative to iced tea — all the depth and character of a premium brewed black tea, elevated by live fermentation and natural effervescence
- Clean label, zero shortcuts — no preservatives, no artificial sweeteners, no synthetic additives of any kind
- Naturally fizzy — live SCOBY fermentation produces real carbonation, not added CO₂
Best served well-chilled. Refrigerate before serving and pour into a tall glass over ice. Grateful's malty depth and natural effervescence shine at cold temperature — a deeply satisfying alternative to iced black tea or a mid-afternoon soft drink.
Before opening: Gently invert the bottle once to redistribute any settled culture. Do not shake — natural carbonation builds pressure and shaking may cause overflow. Open slowly, releasing pressure gradually before pouring.
Suggested pairings:
- Savoury dishes — the malty, robust character of black tea kombucha pairs naturally with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, and hearty stews
- Dim sum and Chinese cuisine — black tea has centuries of history alongside Chinese food; this is that tradition in fermented, effervescent form
- Strong cheeses — aged cheddar, gruyère, and parmesan stand up confidently to Grateful's full-bodied profile
- Afternoon snacking — biscuits, crackers, and savoury pastries find a natural companion here
Serving occasions: Afternoon pick-me-up, meal accompaniment, savoury pairings, mindful drinking, daily ritual
Storage: Keep refrigerated at 4–7°C at all times. Consume within 7 days of opening. Keeps for up to 6 months when stored chilled.
