Classic Black is exactly what its name promises. A whole leaf black tea with no blending, no flavouring, and no attempt at novelty — made to be drunk daily rather than studied.
It is the most straightforward tea in this range, and deliberately so. Where the oolongs ask for attention and a particular water temperature, Classic Black asks for very little. It is forgiving to brew and difficult to ruin.
What sets it apart from the black tea in most kitchens is the leaf itself: whole and unbroken, with no fannings or dust. Nearly all everyday black tea is broken leaf or dust, which is why it brews fast, strong and bitter if left. Whole leaf brews more slowly and more evenly, and stays drinkable if you forget it for a minute.
Brisk and uncomplicated in the cup. Good plain, and holds up with milk.

With milk: steep the full three minutes, then add milk to taste. The extra time gives it the body to carry milk without going thin.
Iced: brew double strength, cool, then pour over ice. Add lemon if you like. Whole leaf iced tea is noticeably cleaner than the bagged equivalent.
Pairings: Breakfast, toast and pastries, biscuits, most things. Not a tea that needs matching.
Storage: Airtight, away from light, heat and strong odours. Do not refrigerate. Best within twelve months of opening.
